Timeout Please!

I'm mostly calm, smiley and positive. I avoid, dodge and run from drama as well.  I'll tell you the main reason I'm that way, I believe that life will always bring you, what I call "legitimate problems", so there is no need for me to go out and create extra.
In fact, If I'm living in joy, laughter and positivity most of the time, I can normally handle the "legitimate problems" when they come along.

Well these few weeks, my life has been dramatic. The universe is throwing me some "legitimate problems". So much is coming at me, all at once.
So on my weekend without my son (I have joint custody of my cub)  I abstained from life, for two whole days. It was me, my sofa, leftovers and Arrow tv series. (Side note: I love anything with Marvel, DC Comics and Manga origins). Yes! I watch 2 seasons of it. I felt like I was just too tired to deal. So I pushed the timeout button.

Now normally, pushing the time out button, comes with guilt, judgement and criticism.
"Wait a minute" I hear you say, I thought you were on your own? Exactly!
I don't know If you figured it out yet but sometimes your biggest judge and critic is you.
That they didn't show up this time, I definitely noticed and it took me by surprise.
I just went with it and I actually felt good in my timeout. I think it was a case of having no more space in my head to think straight. I was also tired after a busy week.

I knew I had to start thinking of solutions.  This was no time to hide. Now that I think of it, it felt like I regrouped.
After my two day timeout it was time to pull some stuff out of my magic bag! Time to think outside of the box, as they say. At this point I wanna throw away the box, cause that "in box thinking" got me here in this mess.

I'm looking at each problem without judgement or criticism.
It's time to be solution conscious woman! (I tell myself) Time to ask powerful questions. Is it easy?  Hell to the no! Is it simple?  Actually yes it is.
Could I have avoided some of these problems? Some of them definitely!  Saying that, some of them are just life in it's flow I think. These challenges, they force me to get creative.  To really grow. I'm the one telling the universe every day that, I'm the Higher She, a higher version of myself.  Maybe problems are the universe saying to me, "prove it lady" "show me what you got"

I'm taking responsibility to be that higher she! but guess what? Doest that mean I need to create my future? To be creative right now in each moment? So in fact I need these challenges, life's legitimate problems.  How simple is that?
The truth tends to be right!

The main thing I'm mindful of is my reactions. I totally have the urge to have a tantrum and throw things, but what difference would it make?
When I did that as a teenager I still had to tidy up after the storm and now as an adult I still have to.
So I just cried a little. I think it released my feelings of frustration. Then I took a some deep cleansing breaths. I smiled, at the realisation of who I am now it times of trouble. Then I made a cup of Rooisbos tea and wrote this all down.

This too shall pass, It always does :-)

CAPTAIN ENERGY!

You know how you can know or understand something intellectually and then something happens that gets you to feel and understand that something on a whole different level?
The something I felt and understood was all about the power of energy. My energy, other peoples' energy.
I don't just mean when you wake up and life is great and the sun is shinning and you feel everythings' going your way and your energy feels high.  That's too easy.

I'm talking about when It's all going pear (meaning very wrong). Dispite it all you manage to connect with your hopes, dreams, gratitude, and get energy from those things and feel betterish, maybe. Until you meet up with Debbie downer and you're right back where you started, sad!
Still not with me? Its all good! Here's the story.

I went to a 3 day at a seminar in Madrid, Spain. I was with 2500 very excited, fun, like minded people. Getting their "personal development on".
I was there as an Ambassador for the event, which I was so excited about. It was an honor for me, to be participating in this particular life changing seminar, on such an high level.

So on Thursday, we arrived in Madrid after sleeping 3hrs and went straight into training but no regualr training a Tony Robbins principles style training.  A you are at the cause of your life, lets take a look style training.
It filled me up so much, re-energised me that I forgot how tired I was.
I had very odd moments of feeling like my eyes were glazing over and I would crash at anytime. Then I would sit up and engage with my peers and in the content being taught  by our amazing trainer Sara Thompson and it was like a shot of adrenaline.

The Ambassadors that I was a part of, were a team of 21 amazing people from Europe, Asia, Africa and USA. We were from different backgrounds and obviously cultures. The main thing we had in common was our readiness to step up with real servant leadership.  As we supported the amazing teams running the event. We were scyked to put it mildly.

We were the first in the venue at 8am and the last out at 9 or 10pm.  I was like an energiser bunny the whole time. Why? Well that's what happens when you are surrounded by super positive, super energetic, like minded people who are high on life. Drivin by their visions to create their life with and on purpose. 2500 of them you could'nt help but feel amazing right? absolutely!  I feel my energy lift just talking about it. Remembering the moments of clarity, breakthrough, powerful conversations, belly laughs, insights and pure fun.

This is where it gets funky but fun depending on your personality;-) On Sunday day, the 3rd and final day of the event, I'm up at 3am in the morning hugging porcelain.  A horrible case of food poisoning.  Whatever I ate, was being violently rejecting and ejected from both ends of my body.
In the morning (the time to "get up and at em") my only focues were to, keep hydrated, not throw up and being close to a toliet. We jumped in a cab and were at the venue at 8am.  Just being around the team I began to feel better. Then we did some energy exercises, massages, movement, getting the blood flowing and before I knew it I was laughing and dancing. Yes dancing!
Considering just an hour before I was sprawled out on the bed, feeling weak and empty, waiting for my roommates to get ready.

I am now more than ever, so very aware of my state and my energy.  I experienced my energy being, affected and lifted despite physical illness.  I was not only lifted but throughout a whole day I felt energetic, happy, able to participate fully in the event and in my duties as an Ambassador for the event. "Captain Energy" won the day. Yes! I did have a few power naps.  Yes! I was afraid of food all day lol! and was in bed by 10pm that night.
The next day was my free day. I wondered around as a tourist in the beautiful city of Madrid. Met friends and yes great food was eaten. By that point hunger was greater than fear of food ;-).

I take this lesson with me daily and the event was last weekend. I can energise, lift my state, and people around me help me do that too. Who's around you, lifting you?

Thank you Sara Thompson and the amazing Ambassador team.

I'll leave you with this message that a friend posted on facebook and it sums and wraps it all up beautifully :-)

In One Of My Favourite Places

This morning I got up at silly o'clock to get to one of my favourite places, the airport! Most people love to travel but they like the part where they're at the destination. I love all of it. I get so excited the night before that I  hardly ever sleep. This time I slept a whole three hours before getting up at 'crazy' o'clock. I always meet someone interesting at the airport and can you imagine all the life, all the stories and all the history that comes and goes all day every day.
I've had some wonderful experiences on my travels. I've just discovered I've visited 22 countries and seen 9% of the world. Amazing what you can find online right!*
Find out what percentage of the world you've visited: What's your percentage?

That's so fantastic to me. Some of my biggest dreams is to experience as much of the world as I can and learn ten languages before I'm 50 and take my cub on an incredible adventure of the continent of Africa.
To get lost in strange streets hearing a different language around me. People watching and realising people are people are people the world over. Well in the 22 countries I've been to anyway.
That we all have hopes dreams fears and joys. That smiles laughs and tears are the same in and my way tell languages.
That Brazil is enormous and it takes 24hrs to get from Rio de Janeiro to Bahia on a bus. Lol! Just throwing that one in.

One of my strongest beliefs is that travelling is one of the things you can buy that enriches your life. If we all travelled more we would see each other with  different eyes and hopefully have more understanding and empathy for each other as human beings.
We don't  have to wait for aliens from outta space to come and invade us to realise that we are one race, the human race. Just get on a plane, wonder the streets of an unknown country and people watch, as we live life.
You'll realise it's all the same just with different filters of language cultures and belifes.

"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page" ~ St. Augustine

Happy trails!!
