In One Of My Favourite Places

This morning I got up at silly o'clock to get to one of my favourite places, the airport! Most people love to travel but they like the part where they're at the destination. I love all of it. I get so excited the night before that I  hardly ever sleep. This time I slept a whole three hours before getting up at 'crazy' o'clock. I always meet someone interesting at the airport and can you imagine all the life, all the stories and all the history that comes and goes all day every day.
I've had some wonderful experiences on my travels. I've just discovered I've visited 22 countries and seen 9% of the world. Amazing what you can find online right!*
Find out what percentage of the world you've visited: What's your percentage?

That's so fantastic to me. Some of my biggest dreams is to experience as much of the world as I can and learn ten languages before I'm 50 and take my cub on an incredible adventure of the continent of Africa.
To get lost in strange streets hearing a different language around me. People watching and realising people are people are people the world over. Well in the 22 countries I've been to anyway.
That we all have hopes dreams fears and joys. That smiles laughs and tears are the same in and my way tell languages.
That Brazil is enormous and it takes 24hrs to get from Rio de Janeiro to Bahia on a bus. Lol! Just throwing that one in.

One of my strongest beliefs is that travelling is one of the things you can buy that enriches your life. If we all travelled more we would see each other with  different eyes and hopefully have more understanding and empathy for each other as human beings.
We don't  have to wait for aliens from outta space to come and invade us to realise that we are one race, the human race. Just get on a plane, wonder the streets of an unknown country and people watch, as we live life.
You'll realise it's all the same just with different filters of language cultures and belifes.

"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page" ~ St. Augustine

Happy trails!!

Totally Addicted To It All!

This blog for me is my chance to share my thoughts, aha moments, experiences and reflections about my incredible journey of learning, personal development and transformation.  I am not the same woman I was 5yrs ago. It seems silly to say but do people really change?

I've reconnected with a friend from high school. It was wonderful, so much as happened in both our lives.  Saying that, I was amazed that even though 23yrs had past she was pretty much the same.
She had the same sense of humour, she saw the world in the same way and life experiences only seemed to clarify to her that her way of thinking and being was the best way for her to be and see things.  Don't get me wrong I'm not judging her.  She has her goals and things she wants to achieve but her paradigm had not changed.

It's all good, cause the truth is, "you don't know what you don't know".  I didn't know that this journey would shift the way I see the world, the way I respond in life and the way I'm creating my life with and on purpose.

I've been to various personal development, wealth creation, breakthrough and business seminars. I've attended amazing company trainings about how to build my business successfully, lead teams and develop a success mindset, which I may add, I didn't know existed. See! "You don't know what you don't know",Right!?

This growth journey has taken me to the USA, Mexico, Isreal, around the UK and Europe.  I've made many new friends and reconnect with old ones.

One of the most impactful things for me, when I started reading more personal development books and going to seminars was meeting so many wonderfully like minded people, who were on their own journeys of growth, learning and development. It was like! "oh my gosh I'm not crazy"
These people didn't look at me funny when I started talking about personal development and becoming a better version of myself.

My friends at the time gave me that look, "you know the one" usually followed by "but there's nothing wrong with you Evette"
I didn't think there was anything wrong with me either. What happened was my eyes were opened and my immagination captured by concepts like: "You have greatness within you" ~ Les Brown. "Don't wish for your problems to be smaller wish that you were better" ~ Jim Rohn. "As a man thinketh so is he" ~ Napoleon Hill.  These principles changed me little by little as I began to live and feel them.

I've always been very positive, some used to say naively optimistic. Now I look back 5yrs later, its a whole different life experience when surrounded by people, who love to learn and grow. Friends who share tools, ideas and knowledge, so I can continue to create my life by design.  They even help me up when I fall or go off track.

Now I really understand that the journey has no destination, because It's continuous, consistent learning and growth.  In fact, at this point I'm totally addicted to it.  Totally addicted to being on this path of mastering my mind I guess. To being alive, alert, aware, conscious and awake.

The people I admire the most, who are also my mentors, whom I look up. They are wealthy in finance, relationships, health, spirituality and all based on their personal definitions of success not anyone elses. They go where they want, when they want, with who they want and they don't need to ask anyones permission.  They themselves are always raising the bar.  Pushing the their limits.
They get comfortable with being uncomfortable because they know that everything they want, all their successes, lay outsite of their comfort zone .  I dont get why it's called my "comfort zone" because most often than not there's nothing comfortable about being there at all.  Anyway I see my mentors and my peers continuously reaching for the next level, for the higher ground and I think, well! "me too" WTH!! why not me too? The Higher She!

Little distractions! Little cares, Cups a tea ;-)

OMG!! Incredible! I have happily recovered from the flu. Health feels sooooooo fabulous!

As I was ill, I missed a week of working (I work from home). I missed that weeks blog post and in general a lot of things piled up.
Not to mention laundry, ironing and general house stuff. (My Mummy hates when I say the word "Stuff"), so just for Mummy aka +Patricia Murphy general housework and other things piled up ;o)

Anyway!, as the days went by and I tried to catch up with everything, I found myself in full swing, Anime (Manga/Marvel) watching, Facebook commenting/sharing, Tweeting (yeah, this is social media marketing) BS!!! PROCRASTINATION!!! THE HORROR!!!     DA DA DAA!!!

Well I caught myself, AAHHHA!! and put on the "put Evette back on track tool" and decided to blog about it too. Two birds One stone, procrastination DEAD!! For Now!!;o)
Oh what's the tool? The Slight Edge by Jeff Olson

The main lesson I've taken from reading this book and listening to the audio book, over and over and over and over again. (Yes that many times!) Is this, "The Slight Edge" is always affecting my life, whether I acknowledge it or not.  It's a natural law, like gravity.  You might think you're all clever and don't believe in gravity but if you jump up really high, gravity will pull you down regardless. My point is this, in my procrastination, all these little things were piling up and just became more and more for me to sort out.  They didn't just disappear because I chose to ignore them.  So one of "The Slight Edge" philosophies I'm working on right now, today, is completion. Taking one task at a time (ignoring that silly super woman, who wants to multitask, make it hectic and in the end wear herself out) Not listening to that crazy lady. Not today anyway ;o)

So I'll finish one task at a time and at the end of the day, I'll face the woman in the mirror and write down everything I've done. Maybe even reward her with a glass of Merlot :o)
When I think about it, I'm looking forward to my "what you got done today list". I've never liked, my ever growing, difficult to complete "EVER" in my lifetime, "Things to do list".
Of course there are many more principles to learn, implement and grow within "The Slight Edge" philosophy but for today I pick that one ;o)

Be Kind to You! "Easy to do! Easy not  to do"! "The Slight Edge" ;-)

Belief Will Change My World

Is it really that simple? Is everything I do, every action I take, really rooted in my beliefs? If I believe in bad luck, I'd manifest it, in someway or another because of my beliefs.
The first time I heard those principles, it really blew my mind.  The lesson I learnt was this; my beliefs feed my thoughts, which fuel my actions, that then give me the life, the results I see/have. Tony Robbins (one of the greatest personal development, speakers, teachers and mentors), advices us to discredit the beliefs about yourself that don't serve us aka our limiting beliefs.  So it's all about, what's going around and around in my head. You can if you think you can! But how do you change it? I love this Tony Robbins video I found on what I love to call YouTube Uni.
I'm so grateful for my journey of personal development and growth. It all started 2008 when my friend took me to a 2 day Christopher Howard event.  I gotta say, it was really weird but I loved it all the same.  All these people searching, for a way to learn more, be better, create wealth, lead a life, with and on purpose.  It was certainly addictive to me.  Then I went on to more books, videos, audios, YouTube Uni and seminars with, T Harv Eker, Les Brown, Tony Robbins,  +Marc Accetta, Jim Rohn, +Matt Morris to name but a few, of my learning and growth mentors.  For me the turning point, when I really began to implement what I was learning from the seminars and books etc, was when I surrounded myself with people who are on a similar journey.
It's not that we're trying to fix everything, we think is wrong with us but instead we're working and growing in order to unlock a greater version of ourself.  I don't know about you, but that all gives me a great sense of power.  That I can change my own programming.  I'm the programmer, I know the code and all I have to do is programme new helpful, empowering positive beliefs.  Some people would come to my home and think I was weird, with all the affirmations of greatness, abundance and wealth in every room, on the walls on the mirrors.

The thing is, according to the most prominent personal development mentors, speakers, authors and even psychologist agree that, we have been programmed and influenced from birth.  Influenced by parents, teachers, people of authority, society. The only difference is now many people are choosing to deliberately re-programme themselves. To shift paradigms previously learnt, to choose our own lever of awareness, even levels of engagement. To participate in life rather than just spectate (which is so easy to do these days, in our voyeuristic society).

Here's one of my favourite belief can change my world videos.  When you watch it you cant help but get fired up. It definitely changes my state.  The fact of the matter is all these re-programing tools, the audios, videos, books and seminars are just like showering and eating, you have to do them everyday because otherwise you'll smell, be hungry and slip back into your old ways of believing, thinking and being.  Trust me I've slipped the only difference is now my slips only lasts moments rather than days, months or years

I am a champion - the greatest speech ever.

You can't help but feel poweverfull after watching and saying that right!

Take Responsibility!!

Take responsibility she says? Easier said than done Right?!!!!
I was having a conversation with a friend a while back, about this very thing.  We were talking about some of the challenges, we were experiencing in life at that moment.  The thing I love about this friend is, she didn't turn our conversation into a pity party.  You know those, "why me"? conversations!  Well, she made a point that stuck in my head about being responsible.  She made the decision a while back, that she was going to take responsibility for every aspect of her life, yes every aspect.

Saying that there are of course moments where she has a little voice in her head screaming, (you know the voice) it says " BUT ITS NOT FAIR"
I wonder where the concept of fair comes from?
Is it a sportsmanship thing? Fair play and all? Where did we get this fair not fair? My 6yr old is always finding things he thinks are "not fair" but as an adult Really!! Les Brown says "Life isn't fair it just is" and I tend to agree.

I think we have a slightly harsh idea about what it means to take responsibility. We see responsibility as blame. If you take responsibility, you accept that you are to blame, for the good, the bad and the ugly, you've created in your life.  That in it self sounds a bit ego centric don't you think?

Let me share my understanding ok. For me when I "take responsibility" I choose my response.  In every situation, circumstance, relationship,  I choose my response to it or them.  So, if I don't like where/how my life looks right now, I choose to respond by looking at what I can do to change the way ahead. What new habits can I put into my life, to replace the habits that aren't serving me. I can also choose, to respond by criticising myself for the mistakes I made, for the silly decisions that landed me in this mess, for the seeds I sewed that give me these fruits that I really don't like and that just tastes awful.

My life coach and mentor, The Me Mastery Mentor +Kuumba Nia taught me that life, people, situations around me are a mirror that reflects who and how I show up, who I'm being in my life. I gotta be honest, that idea did not sit well with me at first. Why? Because there were people, relationships and situations in my life who were being a Royal pain and I didn't want to look at that in the mirror and admit any of that was a refection of me, No thank you!.
Look at it this way though, if you got up this morning, looked in the mirror and didn't like your outfit, you'd just go change the outfit right? Of course I'm simplifying it.  Here's the good news.  It's not easy but it's completely worth it.  The tool we used to look into this mirror was kuumbas book The Circle of One How to Heal Your Relationships and Live Your Truth. The book was a wondeful read. In true +Kuumba Nia style it tells you some much needed home truths, in a no BS, straight talking but at the same time nuturing and loving way too.
Like everything in this personal development and growth journey it's a process.  Be kind to yourself. Treat yourself with the kindness and love you would give to you're best friend in the world.  I can't remember who said it but someone said, we often treat complete strangers with more kindness than we treat ourselves.

Show yourself some love as you look in the mirror with love ;-)

Just BREATHE!!

I'm sure you've had one of those weeks where it seems like so much is being  thrown at you all at once.
You feel like you're putting out fires all day every day and at the end of the day you need that calming glass of Merlot as you unravel yourself.
Well, I'm in the middle of one of those weeks and my mantra is "just breath" then I smile.
I'm telling you, it's totally working. When my blood is boiling and my heart is pounding and I feel the tension rising, I close my eyes, take a deep cleansing breath and smile.
I love it! I'm so grateful for my level of  awareness these days, because when I return to a more peaceful state, I can think straight.
Freaking out has never helped me, ever! And trust me, I used to  throw adult  fully  grown temper tantrums that would  make toddlers blush, shake their heads and walk away. Just ask my sister.
The woman that writes this blog today is a product of  years of amazing books, seminars, mentors and like minded people who are on a similar journey of constant, personal growth and development.

It's always wonderful to remember how far I've come. So I always love to share a great book, audio, video or something that's relevant to what I'm talking about.

This week it's The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. Before I read this book it followed me around. I mean
it was everywhere! A close friend was reading it, it was spotted on another's coffee table, someone was reading  across from me on the bus. So I gave in and bought it and read it and WOW! What a paradigm shift  it was for me. The magic of being present in the  present has been a  gift to my  life.
So to the rough road I smile and say "this too shall pass".

I love these videos from;
Oprah Winfrey´s Soul Series with Eckhart Tolle Part 1
Oprah Winfrey´s Soul Series with Eckhart Tolle Part 2
Oprah Winfrey´s Soul Series with Eckhart Tolle Part 3
Oprah Winfrey´s Soul Series with Eckhart Tolle Part 4
Oprah Winfrey´s Soul Series with Eckhart Tolle Part 5
Oprah Winfrey´s Soul Series with Eckhart Tolle Part 6
Oprah Winfrey´s Soul Series with Eckhart Tolle Part 7
Oprah Winfrey´s Soul Series with Eckhart Tolle Part 8
Oprah Winfrey´s Soul Series with Eckhart Tolle Part 9

Yes I just had to put all 9 links. Why not! It's amazing :-)
Remember that if Mummy's happy everybody's happy ;o)

LOL!!!

Life is so much more fun when I get some good belly laughs regularly.
One of my favourite things about being a parent is that my son cracks me up on a daily basis.
The way he sees the world and expresses himself is a constant source of belly laughs.
laughing is a funny thing, yes funny Ha ha of course but I also mean funny peculiar!!

People in general love to have a good laugh. I even think it's good for the soul. But what about when  you're in that group of people laughing at some poor sod? Do you join in? Are you ok with that? Does it feel horrible and uncomfortable? Worse than that what about the total dread of being laughed at dah dah dahhhhhh!!!
I'm about to randomly give you a whole other perspective on laughing.  Check this out. The  paragraph below is taken from an article called;

The Most Horrible Punishment
Posted on May 3, 2013 by Larry Nixon M.Min., Morrilton, Arkansas

For the Eskimo thief, there is but one sentence and it is carried out immediately. Everyone in the community participates in the execution of the sentence. It is a lifetime sentence, and it is so horribly feared that theft is almost unknown among Eskimos. Nobody wants to risk receiving such condemnation.

What is this most dreadful punishment which causes such fear among would-be thieves? Why is it so agonising to the condemned thief? The punishment is based on the psychological fact that all people want to be accepted by their peers. That is why people in close-knit groups tend to dress alike and have the same attitudes and habits — acceptance. Nobody wants to be rejected. It is not physical pain, but rejection that we fear the most. And rejection is the basis of the Eskimo thief’s punishment. When an Eskimo is caught stealing, everybody laughs at him. That is the only punishment he receives. No jail time. No fines to pay. No physical pain to suffer. Just laughter! Any time the thief is seen in public, he is laughed at. By everybody! For life! He feels rejected by his peers. Psychologists have determined that to be laughed at is the thing people fear most. This is the punishment for the Eskimo thief. It is the only punishment he receives, but like Cain, it is “greater than he can bear.”

There is very little thievery among the Eskimos!

Crazy right!!?? All that brings me to this, just be happy, laugh lots and remember that laughter is a very powerful thing. It's been proven to enhance the mood and relax even the most hard core stress bunnies among us ;-) Next time you have a good belly laugh just be mindful how great it makes you feel :-)
